ST. JOE'S SNAPS BATES' FIVE-GAME WIN STREAK, 4-2

STANDISH, Maine — The Bates College baseball team saw its five-game winning streak snapped today at the hands of the St. Joseph's College Monks, 4-2.

St. Joes (18-14) got on the board in the second inning after a walk to rookie C Derek McIntosh (Auburn, Maine), who scored on an error after a single by junior 2B Lucas Hannigan (Cape Elizabeth, Maine). The Monks added two more in the third on RB singles by senior DH Jesse Lacasse and Hannigan. Bates senior C Ben Donaldson (Lamoine, Maine) drove home a run on a ground out in the fifth and sophomore CF Rob Maguire (Wayland, Mass.) scored on an error in the seventh, but the Bobcats could not push home any more runs. Junior Billy Karz(Van Nuys, Cal.) suffered his first loss of the season, giving up six hits in five innings of work.
