TRINITY COMPLETES SEASON SWEEP OF BATES, 14-6

LEWISTON, Maine -- Eight of nine Bantam starters crossed the plate as the Trinity College Bantams (22-5, 9-3 NESCAC) defeated the host Bates College Bobcats (1-16, 0-8 NESCAC) in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) baseball action.

Trinity was led by junior 1B Nick Callini (Westfield, Mass.), who went 2-3 with three runs scored and three RBI. Rookie catcher Tony O'Shaunessy (Manchester, N.H.) had a game-high four hits, going 4-6 with two RBI. Bates got a multi-hit performance from junior C Ben Donaldson (Lamoine, Maine), who went 2-4 with a double and a run scored.

Bates starting pitcher Ben Megrian (Newton, Mass.) took the loss despite allowing just three hits in five-plus innings of work. Trinity junior Justin Olewnik (Cheshire, Conn.) took the win with help from relievers Kevin Tidmarsh (Meriden, Conn.) and Carlos Resto (Framingham, Mass.), who retired 11 of the 13 batters they faced.
