MIDDLEBURY DOWNS BATES BASEBALL, 12-2

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — The Middlebury College baseball team used a balanced attack as eight different players got hits and the Panthers (10-9) defeated the Bates College Bobcats (2-18) today by a score of 12-2.

Middlebury was led by Chris Kestner's 3-4 performance with three RBI and a run scored, while Neil Higgins hit his first home run of the season, a two-run blast in the sixth. Bates' biggest highlight was rookie Rob Maguire's (Wayland, Mass.) first career home run leading off the fourth innning.
