They were filming from May into October....Lars '91 and Lia Andropoulos Springman are back in Texas after a long visit to Greece....In a New York City public school, Neva Arno is an assistant kindergarten teacher....A high-school counselor at Westwood (Massachusetts) High School, James Ash also coaches football, basketball, and track....Joyce Bareikis El Kouarti is internal marketing director at Hideaways, International, a travel club based in Portsmouth, New Hampshire....Now in Kiev, Ukraine, Alyson Ewald works for ISAR, a clearing house for grassroots cooperation in Eurasia. She helps to fund local environmental NGOs in Ukraine, Balarus, and Moldava, facilitating information and networking among local groups....Kate Godin traveled to Australia with Mike Godin '88 to visit Ben Godin '96, who spent a semester in Melbourne....Back in the Boston area, Dave Hazlett has a new position as zone account representative with American Honda Finance Corporation....Laura Hillier is a health educator for the American Medical Student Association, and lives in Alexandria, Virginia....Eric Knight works in the financial department at Vanguard. He was elected secretary of the Shipley School Alumni Board, and received the Alumnus of the Year Award from the Benchmark School, the national leader in teaching students to overcome learning difficulties such as dyslexia....Ruthie Loescher continues to work for Outward Bound in the Montana Rockies, where she leads alpine mountaineering expeditions....Tracy Moore Chandler teaches ninth-grade ancient history and coaches lacrosse at the Hotchkiss School....In July 1994, Craig Palmer and his partner, Amuel Abel, held a commitment ceremony in Thetford, Vermont....Marnie Patterson is now an editor at Houghton Mifflin Publishing Co. in Boston....Rob Prunier is business manager for Gilbane Building Company, and Bethany (Spitzer) is a ninth-grade English teacher at Souhegan High School in Amherst, New Hampshire....In Washington, D.C., Nicola Ray is an assistant manager at an independent neighborhood bookshop....Kim Rodick and her husband built a home in Manchester, Connecticut. She works in the managed-care field at Metro Health, Inc., in Hartford....Tim Schmitt works at a residence for mentally ill adults to teach them skills needed to live more independently....Dr. Sam Shelanski and his wife, Karen Schwartz, spent a month scuba diving in Belize and Honduras, and with his medical background and "obsession" with scuba diving, Sam has been hired as the medical columnist for Rodale's Scuba Diving Magazine....During last summer, Dawn Smith-Sherwood was assistant to the director for the SUNY/Buffalo program in Salamanca, Spain....While he works on his master's degree in art history, Christopher Sokolowski has a job in an art conservation lab, where he repairs paintings that suffer from "elevated cleavage."...Andrew Tait spent a year seeing the country by bicycle and also looked up a sizable number of classmates from the East Coast to California....Steve Tesler is currently a consultant for Ernst & Young in New York City....Continuing for the third year at Outdoor Edge, Jennifer Wait loves her job with the nonprofit organization she founded with friends. They do environmental education programs with school kids, ropes-challenge courses with all ages, and adventure-based outdoor trips with children on probation. Most programs are held on the Olympic (Washington) peninsula, an incredible outdoor classroom....Home after four years in the Marshall Islands, where she worked with students and teachers in science education, Elizabeth Weimer is at Columbia University through the Peace Corps Fellows Program. In September, Kimberly Conlin began to teach British literature and world history at the MacDuffie School in Springfield, Massachusetts....In addition to working overseas, Sharon Higgins has earned an M.A. in French, has nearly completed her Ph.D. in French literature, and is working on a second master's degree in eighteenth-century French literature....Terri Lynn Hockman Byerly is pursuing her master's degree in elementary education at Lesley College. Thanks, Terri, for the correction....Kate Killoran is at Boston University Medical School....John Lanza produced a show, Life with Louie, starring comedian Louis Anderson, which aired last December on Fox TV....Living in the Virgin Islands, Chris Manges is a sea kayak guide, leading week-long trips; he is also a volunteer for the National Park Service helping to maintain trails....Steve Moore is a junior associate attorney at Leasecomm Corporation in Waltham, Massachusetts. He earned his J.D. degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. Steve is interested in working as a volunteer career advisor which, he says, was an invaluable resource in his recent job search, "and I'd like to return the favor."...Lars Springman earned his M.B.A. degree last April from the University of Dallas. He and Lia (Andropoulos) are back in Texas after a long visit to Greece. They hope to move to Greece in a couple of years.

In Chicago, Matthew Aeschliman is a financial database analyst at the University of Chicago Hospitals....Class President Sheela Agarwal works in advertising at The Boston Globe and takes pottery classes....In December 1994, Philip Alexakos was hired by the City of Manchester, New Hampshire, as one of four health inspectors. He also enjoys being assistant wrestling coach at his high school, MacArthur West. After graduation Philip taught a semester of chemistry at Notre Dame College in Manchester....Along with graduate school at Tufts, Becky Allen has been performing in a West African drumming and dance ensemble....Laura Allen does professional and highly technical projects in her job with a children's science magazine in New York City....During the Angus King for Governor campaign in Maine, Patrick Andrews was assistant to the finance director. (King won!)....Before she began law school last August, Michelle Angelone worked at MBNA America financial services corporation, along with classmates Suzy Dodge, Denis Howard, and Norm Curtis '90....Rhonda Bell writes from Rabat, Morocco, where she is a Child Health Extension Volunteer in the Peace Corps. She says her job changes daily "from vaccination drives to one-on-one health education."...Jenn Berry attended the mini-reunion at Bates last September, coming from Boston, where she works....Andrew Blacker markets proposals to clients at Hearst New Media & Advertising in New York City....Alissa Boyd is a marketing specialist at the Smithsonian Institution Press, where she writes press releases and catalog copy, solicits book reviews, and arranges special events....In Israel, Liana Brooks worked along with Interns for Peace on Arab-Jewish Relations. She taught English, organized a local newspaper and a women's group, and arranged interactions between Arab schools and those in neighboring Jewish towns and cities....In San Francisco, Kristy Browder works for Psion, a British computer company that specializes in hand-held computers....For ten months, Heather Brummer had an internship in sustainable agriculture at the Land Institute in Kansas....Amy Brunner is now a coaching intern, assistant soccer coach, and head basketball coach at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. Earlier she was a coach and substitute teacher at Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts....Josh Chadajo has a new job as a research coordinator at the Committee for Accuracy in Middle East reporting....Mei Lun Chau is in Tempe, Arizona, with Suncor, learning about real-estate development in the state....In Washington, D.C., Ben Cline is a legislative correspondent for Congressman Bob Goodlatte '74 -- "hours long, but I love every minute of it," he says....Derek Cook made the trip from Connecticut to Bates last September....Keri Dailey has moved to Atlanta to work at Emory University....At Judge Baker Children's Center in Massachusetts, Emily Daughters handles emergency cases of child abuse and neglect....In Seattle, Kyle Davies is a volunteer fireman and diver on the island where he lives....Meredith Davis works full time as a lab technician at Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and she has a part-time job as bartender at the Olive Garden....Carrie Diramio enjoys her job and co-workers in Washington, D.C., at the Zacchaeus Free Clinic, where she is a medical/legal assistant....Class Secretary Mark Doctoroff, in his second year at Chemical Bank, is "on line" in the Wall Street Group. He keeps in touch with a lot of New York City Batesies....In Boston, Heather Doyle is a legal assistant for Crowe & Vernaglia, P.C....Amy DuBois McFarland is a costumed interpreter at Old Sturbridge Village....Olivia Dyer is in Port Chester, New York....In Amherst, Massachusetts, Rachel Dymon is a veterinarian's assistant....We know that Mary Easterly and Jacquie Epsimos live in the Boston area, but not what they are doing....Conor Fennessy is a legislative assistant for Massachusetts U.S. Congressman Peter Torkeldren, and works around the corner from Ben Cline....Living in Brooklyn, New York, Adam Fifield works on the metro desk at The Village Voice....In Charlotte, North Carolina, Natasha Friend is a live-in nanny while she gains residency for graduate school. Last summer she was a coordinator of special events at Camp Laurel in Readfield, Maine....A staff analyst at L.L. Bean, Mike Giandrea was assistant coach for Winthrop High School's varsity boys' basketball team....At Hebron (Maine) Academy Anastasia Gilman teaches, and coaches cross-country, basketball, and track. She ran the October Chicago Marathon in three hours, seventeen minutes....On a Fulbright Grant last year, Jason Grant studied with Harold Vogel, director of the North Germany Organ Academy. While on semester break in France he played a Silberman pipe organ in Strasbourg that Mozart had played in 1778....Last fall, Scott Greenleaf, on a weekend break from school and work, rollerbladed through Central Park with classmates Jenna Maconochie and Irene Pfefferman....Last summer, Matt Grove was at sea on the Pacific doing geochemistry research around a hydrothermal vent. His research is "primarily into paleoclimate records in lakes."...Hope Guardenier works on Cape Cod....During the summer and fall, Sally Gurall had an interim position at Bates as assistant director of special projects and summer programs....Aaron and Catherine Wells Hart are in Lafayette, Indiana, where she is a psychiatric technician at the Wabash Valley Hospital while Aaron is in graduate school....Toby Haug runs a neurobio research lab and teaches graduate and medical students in Connecticut....At Temple University, Heather Heimuli is a graduate assistant in public speaking in the Department of Rhetoric and Communication....Mike Horton's busy year included coaching middle-school volleyball and Little League teams, and managing the retail department of Black Dog Tavern, Martha's Vineyard....Besides having a temporary job with MBNA America in Camden, Maine, Denis Howard jet-boated through the St. Lawrence River rapids and read to kindergarten classes each Friday morning for variety....In her job as associate director of admissions at the Darrow School in New Lebanon, New Hampshire, Rebecca Hunsicker travels around the country to visit schools and meet with educational consultants....In Vail, Colorado, Liam Hurley says "ski bumming is fun, but the real world awaits." Rob Moore is also in Vail....Molly Johnson is in Hokkaido, Japan, where she teaches English to high-school students through the JET program....In Austin, Texas, Sara Kirby has "a great job" at a small zoo. She gives tours to school groups, and has created summer and outreach programs....Ji-Mi Lee planned to go to London from Tokyo to interview for jobs in the art world....Last winter, Carey Linder taught skiing in Oregon, then worked in a marina, wading canoe floats during the summer....During the past year, Jennifer Lockhart Nespole worked at the Tinker Foundation, a nonprofit organization that awards grants to other nonprofit institutions that do research in Latin America, Spain, and Portugal on environmental economic policy, training, and public outreach....In Manhattan, Justin Lukach works for a small publisher, Black Dog & Lebenthal....A paralegal at Weil, Gotschal & Manges in New York City, Brian McCook works primarily on issues related to the Securities and Exchange Commission....Also in New York City at Scholastic, Inc., Maggie McGowan works full time as an administrative assistant and assistant to an art and design department. She also studies acting at a private studio....Jenna Maconochie spent last summer in the rainforest of Venezuela, and is a geologist for Dames & Moore, environmental consultants, in Cranford, New Jersey....Brian Manning works for a bio-research firm in Milbury, Massachusetts....In Lewiston, Kristina Marcussen has an internship with a physical therapist at St. Mary's Medical Center....In New York City, Brad Mascott is a financial advisor associate at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co., Inc. "To stay sane" he raced with a sailing club last summer and plays in two city volleyball leagues....Tara Mattson, also in The City, is the personal assistant to Walter Cronkite....In Bethel, Alaska, Chiara Mecagni is director of Batista House, a residential home for chemically mentally ill and developmentally delayed Alaskan Native adults. She is a Jesuit volunteer, living on the Yukon-Kuskokwin River delta....Gwen Murphy works in San Francisco as a marketing assistant at Neuberger & Berman....Amanda Nickerson has done some traveling and "had an excellent summer."...Brian Nishiyama is a PC support consultant at Synthes USA, an orthopedic implant business....When last heard from, Craig Nussbaum was still in Vail, Colorado, after extensive summer travel....Robert O'Donnell taught ninth-grade Spanish and eighth-grade history in a Massachusetts school, where he was a dorm parent for eleven eighth- and ninth-grade boys....Tracy O'Mara lives on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and is a career management trainee at Liz Claiborne....Meghan O'Shea lives with Kristy Browder in San Francisco....From Germany, we learn that Katharina Osmers is a research assistant at Bremen Institute of Industrial Technology. She traveled in Europe with classmate Jeanette Braau, who lives in Sweden....In Royal Oak, Michigan, where she is "just chillin' in the flatlands," Michele Ott misses New England....Lauren Popell is the assistant debate coach at Bates, and will take debaters on a tour to Japan in May....While she waits for a foreign-service appointment, Sarah Potak has been working at the Keswick Hotel in Charlottesville, Virginia. She had taught non-English-speaking students in the public schools of Lenox, Massachusetts....After doing field research in Latin America, Amy Powers-Valdivieso lives in Buenos Aires with her husband, Diego, Argentinean soccer player....In Portland, Maine, Melissa Prodis is an administrative assistant for Maine Adoption Placement Service....Nathan Pund, who works for MetLife, has been transferred from New York City to Atlanta....In New York City, Paula Redes is Romance and Arabic languages editor at a small publishing house....Derek Reed teaches at St. Edwards School in Vero Beach, Florida. Next Reunion in 1999. At Wyoming Seminary in Kingston, Pennsylvania, Nicole Chase teaches biology and chemistry in the Upper School. A biology major at Bates, she was previously captain of both field hockey and softball at Hebron Academy. She plans to assist in those two sports at the Seminary....Evan Halper, an intern at Maine Times last summer, is staying on as a staff writer. Editor of The Student at Bates and president of Bates Democrats, Evan worked during vacations fielding viewer complaints for NBC Network Studios, and edited articles for the medical journal Contemporary Urology. Evan is also a member of the Magazine Advisory Board of the Bates Magazine.
