The Permasite Web interface System will provide Bates Web designers with a single XHTML template that can be styled with great flexibility to support usability, accessibility, and multi-tiered branding.
Like a fine jewel, the many facets of a Bates education are presented through tens of thousands of official Web pages on dozens of official College subsites.
For this reason, the interface between our visitors and their Bates Web experience must be capable of providing a multi-tiered environment: one that reinforces both the core Bates identity as well as the uncountable ways Web visitors perceive and contribute to that identity.
We are developing a Web interface pattern system that will use World Wide Web Consortium standards to structure and present content, yet allow flexibility for a multi-faceted context for the College and its departments, offices, and programs.
