Goals:

This year our goal is to make it to New England Regionals. In the past, Ultimate at Bates has been rather informal and low key. Our goal as a program is to raise the level at which we play without forgetting the atmosphere our program was founded upon.

Life at Bates while playing Ultimate:

Bates is a challenging academic institution. When we need a study break, we play Ultimate. Ultimate is an athletically stimulating activity for all of us, but it is also a chance for us to meet and connect with similar people on campus. Not to mention the Ultimate parties are SWEET!

When and where are practices?

In the fall, the men's and women's teams practice twice a week on Bardwell or the football field. We also do a track workout on one of our off days. In the winter, we practice in the Gray Cage or Merrill Gymnasium. Feel free to attend any of the practices whether you are a Bates student or not.

Where is Bates?

Bates is in Lewiston, Maine.

Northbound travelers: take Exit 80 and turn left onto Alfred A. Plourde Parkway at the stop sign at the end of the off ramp.

Southbound travelers: take Exit 80 and bear right onto Plourde Parkway.

Regional map

Continue on Plourde straight to stoplight at intersection of Plourde and Pleasant; continue on Plourde .6 miles to stoplight at Webster Street. Turn left onto Webster and travel 1 mile to stoplight at Farwell Street. Turn right onto Farwell and follow .6 miles to stoplight. Continue straight across intersection onto Russell Street and follow for .9 miles to the third stoplight. Turn left onto College Street and follow to second blinking stoplight; turn left onto Campus Avenue.

Are there other opportunities to play Ultimate off campus?

Yes, there are single gender teams for both men (Red Tide) and women (Casco Babes) in Portland, ME. There is also a summer league in Portland if you decide to stay on campus for the summer.
