Sam Boyer had never seen tides or electricity until he sailing in his first collegiate trophy regatta last weekend at the Casco Bay Open. Being from the Chicago area, such things are foreign. He nevertheless did rather well considering this was his second event sailing for Bates. His rather laid back attitude about the sport seems to be his key to success. With his feet propped on the leeward rail and arm resting on the windward one, Sam cruised to a respectable finish at the event, and even won a race in the process. It's not like he was even trying though, so there.
