The saltiest sailor on Taylor Pond, Luke is something of a modern Nathaniel Bowditch. Luke sailed on the Spirit of Massachusetts with Ocean Classroom from Boston, MA to San Juan, PR. He fell in love with the water after that and the next summer he worked on the H.M.S. Bounty sailing around New England and New York. He spent the past summer hoisted aloft on a yard arm in port. His stories alone are awe-inspiring. Once during a race, the wind gusted and almost dismasted him at a windward mark. Luke cooly dropped his crew as an anchor and club-hauled around the mark. Once his main brace split during a broaching knock-down and he was forced to splice it underway, all the while with his mizzen fore-boom nearly split asunder. Luke calls Brookline, Mass. home and graduated from Proctor Academy.
