Coast Guard/MIT 1/14: Stomps ran the 3k in 9:38, and although he was disappointed by his finish he ran a competitive race throughout. Look for him to do well next weekend - he generally fuels disappointment into a solid finish the next race.

Tufts Invitational 1/21: What did we tell you?! Stompy ran a PR of 16:16. Before he left for Grenoble, France last February, Stompy ran  16:32 in the Bates Invite in December, which was a PR at the time. It was great to see him running consistent splits and doing what he does best - stomp his way through the race to victory.

USM Invitational 1/28: Wow. That's about all we can say about Stompy's performance today. The entire Bates team was on the edge of their seats in utter disbelief at what Stompy was doing, which was running a 3k in 9:12 (a PR), winning the event (never before done except in the 5k at the Bates Invitational in December 2004 when there was really no competition), and out-sprinting another runner for the win by a mere 1 second (never before done period). Stompy has been showing exceptional effort in the track workouts the past couple weeks. He's been running faster than he is supposed to and his intensity and determination during them leaves one only imagining what he has in mind for his next races. Expect Stompy to break 16 at the State Meet next weekend and continue to improve every race he runs as he has done this season so far. His performance at this meet earned him the Honor Baton - his first one!

State of Maine Meet 2/4: Stompy's goal for this meet was to break 16 minutes in the 5k, and he came pretty close - 16:04. He went through the mile in 5:01 and the two mile in 10:01, both perfectly on pace to break 16 (5:08 per mile will do the trick).

MIT Invitational 2/11: Finally! For the first time in his life, Stompy broke 16 minutes in the 5k. And he gave himself a huge margin for error, running 15:59.86. 14 one-hundredths of a second slower and he would have been at 16 flat, a time with a completely different meaning. This was huge for Stomp. It was his last indoor track race of his collegiate career, and in it he accomplished his main goal of the past 4 years. Sure, there was always outdoor track to break 16, but somehow doing it indoors makes it cooler, but it also bodes well for Stompy's outdoor season. But...what happened to that kick he showed at his USM 3k win? The guy ahead of him who won at MIT ran 15:58.64 - only a second faster! But that's ok, we'll give it to Stompy, who ended up finishing 2nd out of a pack of 7.
