Chez Chevaux Equestrian Center
Chez Chevaux opened in 1996 and is owned and run by Karen Lappas. Karen
is a graduate of nearby Bowdoin college. The stable hosts both the Bates
Equestrian team as well as the Bowdoin Equestrian team, along with many
other boarders and riders. Before opening Chez Chevaux in Durham Karen
taught for 12 years prior to that in CT, NY, MA, NJ and PA.
from the Bates campus. Facilities include a heated indoor and large
outdoor sand ring. The barn has 32 stalls and usually houses 8 to 12
lesson and sale horses. Students of all ages and levels ride at the barn
and participate in monthly clinics and shows on site throughout the
spring and fall, as well as shows throughout New England.
