Here's some answers to the questions you might be asking...

*WHO are the Meris?

The Meris (nickname) are the members of the Merimanders a capella group at Bates College. We've been around for fifty years and are continuing to grow as a group.

*How can I become a Meri ?

Unfortunately you have to audition, but don't worry we don't bite. We hold auditions every year within the first weeks of school. Look for the Merimanders table set up at the activities fair and we'll have you sign up so that we can inform you when and where the auditions will be held.

*Do I need to have past experience in choir to audition?

Choir experience is a plus but is not required. We are looking for people who can sing well on their own and blend well with the group. If you can sing, then audition for sure.

*How often do the Meris practice?

We practice around 2 to 4 times a week. Two times if we aren't busy. Four times if we are preparing for a concert. But on average we practice three times a week.

*Where do you guys perform?

We perform all over the place. We perform at Bates and sometimes invite other groups from different colleges to come sing with us or we'll go sing with them. We have a tour every October Break and perform at Colleges and High Schools along the way. Every now and then we'll go to competitions. In 2004 we competed in the ICCA in MA.

if you have anymore questions then just contact us... we'd be more than happy to answer any of your crazy meri questions.
