Also, we would like to let you know that Opportunity Maine has been passed by the state legislature and signed into law by Governor John Baldacci. "Opportunity Maine is an initiative to make higher education more affordable and to create jobs for Maine people. Now that Opportunity Maine has become law, a new program will make it possible for Maine people to earn a tax credit to help pay their student loans if they live and work in Maine after they graduate. Les Campbell is coming to Bates this Wednesday at 8 in Muskie Archives. Mr. Campbell is "from the National Democratic Institute, the international wing of the Democratic Party. He will speak on the problems facing the Middle East today and prospects for the future.An expert in democracy building and foreign policy, Campbell has appeared on CNN, Fox News, and quoted in the New York Time and The Washington Post."
