Congrats to all of our Beanpot Weekend racers!! A very strong showing for us! Our A time trial team was on the move this weekend. Nate, Ari, Willard and Russ powered over the 10 mile course in a time good enough for 4th place, just behind (as in just a little more than just) yellow jersey sporting Toddy-boy's Dartmouth team. After dropping Willard somewhere on the course cause he isn't truely an A rider, the trio finished looking strong.

The C TTT missed points by "just" 35 seconds. Gifford, Knack, Crinny and Corey, with their excessive amount of experience riding together rode to a 11 finish, less than a second behind UNH and a few more behind Princeton.

Craigypoo, Pat, and Jared finished a respectable 5th in the D field, just a wee bit out of 4th and points.

The women (and yes, we do actually have women on our team) also finished just one place out of points. Just ignore the first two numbers of their time. It's all good :) In the Crit, Nate crashed out, but stuck in long enough to score some points, Ari got pulled, Corey got pulled, Crinny got pulled, Jenny, well she um...had fun, Megan got pulled, and Craig got pulled. People did actually finish. Willard had his best crit ever, finishing 9th. Mighty Willard pulled his chase pack back to the main field with just a few laps to go and someone managed to sqweak out a 9th place finish. Decent. Now if only he moved up to A...

In D, the ever improving Eric Knackmuhs finished 4th, giving us our best result of the day. Gifford, even though his bike fell apart on the last lap (don't ask) finished 20th.

For the road race, the conditions pretty much took out the field. The rain and sand ruined pretty much everyone's rims and there seems to be a high demand for new brake pads...
Ari "I got me a top 10" DeWilde, finished in the top ten, just like his name says. He stuck through the beautiful conditions and tried to hit a semi as he finished in 9th place. Nate dropped out saying that his bike sucks, which it does, but he could have just picked up a nice Litespeed from Pedro's and continued on.

Willard, just like Nate (they're similar in many ways...) dropped out too cause he didn't have brakes.

Crinny popped a good one, finishing 7th in the C field. Not bad for someone that pukes everytime he rides. Coming in about 3 hours later, and by 3 hours I mean a while, Corey finished. He needs to work on riding his bike.

Knack again finished 4th proving that he should probably move up to C. Mertz, in his first race finished 11th, Craig Saddlebags finished 20th, and Sammy Hotchkiss finished 29th. Not bad, not bad at all.

Again, Congrats to All of the racers this weekend. We got numerous comments about how we actually have a team this year. Keep up the good attendence and we'll see you at the races.

Don't forget, this weekend is at UCONN. Email Ari if you're interested.

Here's a recap of the last few weekends...

The season started out strongly with Nate Rogers, coming off of hard winter training...(not overtraining for once), went down to a snowy Rutgers University.  Nate failed to inform his teammates of his decision to go, instead deciding the night before to make the 8 hour drive there and back alone in his car.  Nate departed at 4:45 am and drove down for the noon crit. .  He had high expectations going in for a top 20 finish, a lofty goal considering Nate hadn't finished an A race he entered last year.   The race got off to a fast, rainy start.  Nate hung in the pack, in the hunt, however a break containing Bobby Lea, Tyler Wren, David Berryman, and other powerhouses got away.  The break would stay away for the rest of the race.  Nate hung in the pack, and showing how far he has come, Nate won the field sprint for 7th place.

The next weekend was supposed to be the Rodale Points Race, and the Pagoda Hill Hell Road Race in Pennsylvania.  However, Rodale was under an inch of ice, so the race was cancelled.  Instead the organizers put on a 4 mile time-trial on the hilly road race course.  Eric Knackmus in his first race, missed his start, but had he not he would have been in the top ten for D.  Ari de Wilde had a strong performance in 7th place , placing less than a second out of 5th, and 4 seconds out of 3rd place.  Nate Rogers, once again showing how much he's improved , Nate finished in a strong 18th place.  Will Adams, sandbagging, showed his strength, placing second in the B timetrial  The next day proved to live up to it's nick name of  "Hill Hell".  A 3.5 mile circuit, with 1.5 miles of climbing per circuit.  Eric Knackmus showed his strength in the D race finishing in a best ever 7th place.  Will "I don't want to race A because I don't think I can win" Adams fought hard in the B race, but miseed out on the big break of the day, and settled for 17th place.  Nate and Ari, battled it out in the A race, Nate, not normally one for the hills, hung in the race till the penultimate lap, when he was finally dropped.  De Wilde hung the pack, barely, often having to chase back on the downhills.  De Wilde fought to a somewhat dissapointing 15th place, 14th place was much less than a wheels length away.
