Our Constitution:

Article I: The name of this organization shall be OUTfront.

Article II: Membership in this organization is open to all members of the Bates community.

Article III: The mission of OUTfront addresses three major needs on the Bates College campus.

Section 1: Support. OUTfront primarily serves as a support group focusing on issues of sexuality and gender difference.

Section 2: Education. OUTfront strives to provide education and resources on LGBTQ topics.

Section 3: Politics/Social Action. OUTfront sponsors social and political events that seek to promote the rights, safety, dignity and pleasure of people of all genders and sexualities.

Article IV:
Section 1: There will be three coordinators who work cooperatively amongst themselves and with the membership to ensure the smooth execution of all OUTfront activities. Duties may include the following:

a) Meetings: facilitating meetings, maintaining email and phone contact with members, and coordinating member involvement in organizational activities.

b) Events: contacting performers and speakers and securing the necessary blue-slips, catering services, publicity, housing, etc. for OUTfront events.

c) Administrative: maintaining financial records, writing the OUTfront budget, corresponding with other College entities, and ascertaining OUTfront's compliance with the College's requirements.

Section 2: The coordinators shall be elected from the OUTfront membership during the winter semester of each year. The term of each office is from June 1 to May 31, though outgoing coordinators are expected to provide any necessary guidance to the newly elected coordinators. Vacancies shall be filled by election as needed.

Section 3: The membership shall choose a faculty advisor(s) each year.

Article V: The activities of OUTfront shall be regulated by general agreement of the membership.

Article VI: Proposed amendments to the constitution shall be announced and read at least one meeting preceeding a vote. A vote of 2/3 of the members present is required for the adoption of amendments to this constitution.
