Introduction

For those of you who have not read an Anthology before, this is the third edition of what is proving to be a powerful and far-reaching form of story-telling. Since the fall of 2005, hundreds of these little books have been distributed to students, faculty, staff, family, and friends. There is no target audience for this work, it is for all ages, genders, and identities. It is meant to educate and to humanize, for those who need an introduction, and to inspire and unify those already well-versed.

These stories bring home the hope, confusion, hilarity, defiance, and love wrapped up in coming out, and show the never-ending, but always interesting, coming out process navigated by so many in our community. They also tell a great variety of stories, spanning decades, miles, and identities. The writers are all tied to Lewiston, as a place where they grew up, go to school, or work, and as a place that has had a lasting impact on their thoughts, feelings, and memories.

It is our hope that these stories spark discussions, emotions, consideration, and perhaps further writing.
