O'Malley Named NESCAC Women's Soccer Player Of The Week
LEWISTON, Maine -- For outstanding play in her first three collegiate games, Bates College first-year forward Kate O'Malley of Deephaven, Minn., has been named New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 16.
O'Malley was an offensive force in her first week, leading the Bobcats to a 3-0 record. She scored six goals and had one assist for 13 points, making her the leading scorer in the NESCAC. In Bates' season-opening 5-0 win over the University of New England Sept. 10, O'Malley had a hat trick, including the first two goals of the game. She added two goals in a four-minute span and had an assist in the team's 5-2 victory over Norwich University Sept. 13 and netted the go-ahead goal 31:50 into the game in the Bobcats' 3-1 victory over Middlebury College in their NESCAC opener. The wins over UNE and Middlebury avenged 1-0 losses to both teams a year ago.
O'Malley is a 1996 graduate of Minnetonka High School. She is the daughter of Charles and Mary Jane O'Malley of 4660 Spring Creek Drive, Deep Haven.
