Accolades Continue For Bates Women's Soccer
LEWISTON, Maine -- First-year forward Kate O'Malley, of Deephaven, Minn., and sophomore forward Colleen McCrave and senior midfielder Nicole Woodson, both of Walpole, Mass., have been named second team All- New England by the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA). In addition, O'Malley was named to the New England Small College Athletic Concference (NESCAC) All Star team.
O'Malley was the only first-year player named to either team. A three-time NESCAC Player of the Week, she was the primary scoring force behind the Bobcats' reaching the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championships. In the NCAAs, O'Malley scored three goals and assisted the fourth in the Bobcats' 2 0 road wins over Bowdoin and previously undefeated Williams. She set the Bates records for goals (18) and points (43) in a season. O'Malley scored twice as many goals as any other player in the conference.
McCrave was second on the team with six goals and 16 points. In two years, she has amassed 11 goals and 10 assists for 32 career points.
Woodson was a co-captain of the 13-3-1 Bobcats' women's soccer team that finished among the top eight in the NCAA Division III tournament and tied the school record for wins in a season. She scored two goals and was second on the team with six assists. Woodson, who was also selected to play in the NEWISA Senior Bowl, ends her Bates career with five goals and 15 assists for 25 points.
O'Malley is a 1996 graduate of Minnetonka High School. She is the daughter of Charles and Mary Jane O'Malley of 4660 Spring Creek Drive, Deephaven.
McCrave is a 1995 graduate of Walpole High School. She is the daughter of William and Annmarie McCrave, 6 Eagle Drive, Walpole.
Woodson is a 1993 graduate of Walpole High School. She is the daughter of Roger and Maureen Woodson of 372 Pemberton St., Walpole.
