Arnold Named NESCAC Women's Soccer Player Of The Week
LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates College sophomore goalkeeper Suzie Arnold of Falmouth, Mass., has been named New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 7. This marks the third time in four weeks that a member of Bobcats, who are 8-0-1 and ranked fourth in New England, has won the honor.
In two games this week, Arnold made 12 saves and allowed just one goal. In her last six games datin `o Sept. 21, Arnold has allowed one goal (Oct. 5 in a 2-2 tie with Williams College).
Included in that stretch were her first two career shutouts, both of which came against teams ranked in the top 10 in New England Division III. Sept. 28, Arnold posted two saves in a 3-0 win at fifth-ranked Tufts. Against sixth-ranked Gordon Co he posted four saves in the Bobcats' 2-0 road win. Arnold has also combined for two more shutouts with senior goalkeeper Shannon Walker of Weston, Mass., a pair of 5-0 victories over the University of New England and Trinity College. Arnold is currently third in the NESCAC with a 0.60 goals-against average for the Bobcats. As a team, Bates has outscored its opponents 38-8.
Arnold is a 1995 graduate of Falmouth High School. She is the daughter of Thomas and Nancy Arnold, 10 Elizabeth Jean Drive, Falmouth.
WalkerÊis a 1993 graduate of Weston High School. She is the daughter of Ernest and Marsha Walker, 254 Conant Rd., Weston.
