Chichester Names NESCAC Softball Player of the Week
LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates College junior catcher Heather Chichester of Enfield, N.H., has been named New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Softball Player of the Week for April 28.
Chichester, a co-captain, had an outstanding week for the Bobcats, despite the team's 1-4 week. She hit .631 (12-19) in five games, collecting five runs and four doubles. In Bates' 11-9 win over Bowdoin to start the week, Chichester was 4-5 with two doubles, three runs scored and a stolen base. Overall this season for the 2-14 Bobcats, Chichester is hitting .510 (25-49), tops in the NESCAC, and leads the team with 10 RBI, 14 runs scored, eight stolen bases, five doubles and two home runs, which both came in the first game of the season against Johnson and Wales. She has an on-base percentage of .566 and a slugging percentage of .783.
Chichester, 1993 graduate of Choate Rosemary Hall, is also a member of the women's rugby team and is serving as a junior adviser this year. She is the daughter of Darrell and Carol Chichester of Enfield.
