Sander Competes in NCAA Championships

LEWISTON, Maine -- Senior Melissa Sander of Richmond, Calif., formerly of Morrison, Colo., competed in the NCAA National Swimming and Diving Championships March 14-16 at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga.

Sander returned to the NCAA Championships in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly, events in which she earned All-America honors in 1995. In this year's competition, Sander finished 15th in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:00.23. She was 13th in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:12.36.

Sander is a 1991 graduate of Bear Creek High School in Lakewood, Colo. She is the daughter of Joyce Sander of 3027 Howard St., Richmond, Calif., and David Sander of 3871 Clay, Denver, Colo.p>
