Harpsichord concert to be given at Bates

LEWISTON, Maine -- Harpsichordist Zvi Meniker will perform J.S. Bach's "Goldberg Variations" at Bates College on Sept. 13 at 8 p.m. in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

The Russian-born Israeli also performs organ and fortepiano. Trained in Basel, Switzerland, and at Cornell University, Meniker is a member of the music faculty at the Leipzig Conservatory in Germany. He previously taught at Duke University.

"'Goldberg Variations' is the tour de force of the harpsichord repertory," said James Parakilas, professor of music at Bates. Meniker's performance is co-sponsored by the Bates Concerts Committee and the Department of Music.
