Historical NoteFlorence James was born November 6, 1912, and attended Bates College, graduating with honors in 1933. While at Bates, she participated in the Outing Club, Student Government and House Council. She married Lawrence A. Cyr and lived in Scarborough, Maine, where she pursued her interests in birding, antiquing, and gardening.
