Historical Note

[From the Bates website.] Bates College Security and Safety is a 24 hour, 365 days service orientated department with a goal of providing a safe and secure environment, leading by example, through education and enforcement. A team of full-time Security Officers patrol the campus on foot, bicycles, and in security vehicles and are in constant contact with the Communications Officers who are located at the security office at 245 College Street. Bates Security Officers respond to phone call directed to Security, including calls from over 140 secutity phones located throughout the campus. Officers also work closely with the Lewiston Police and Fire Departments, investigating crimes and incidents on campus. For students residing off campus, Security participates in the Bates Neighborhood Alliance.
