Guide to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty, Museum of Art records, 1956-2007
Established in 1953 [as the Treat Gallery], the [Olin Art] Museum maintains a small but significant permanent collection of American and European art, including the Marsden Hartley Memorial Collection, featuring paintings, drawings, personal papers, and memorabilia. The Museum is also an important academic resource, supporting teaching and learning across the curriculum. It is also a leading arts and cultural center in the region. [From the Bates catalog.]
This collection contains records pertaining to the Olin Arts Center at Bates College, particularly exhibitions in the art gallery, including catalogs, invitations, and brochures. Some administrative files, including correspondence, press releases, brochures, and events calendars are also included. Some of the folders marked "Exhibits" contain combined exhibit brochures/invitations. The "Exhibit Miscellany" folder contains index cards and clipped photographs which appear to be research materials and notes for several exhibitions.
The folders are arranged alphabetically by folder title.
The collection is open for research.
