Environmental Protection Agency Publications
EPA's largest electronic documents site allows you to search view and print, including full images of all original pages and full-text, from a collection of over 10,000 archival and current documents. This collection may include documents that are no longer available in print form.
Watersheds of the World
Provides maps of land cover, population density and biodiversity for 154 basins and sub-basins around the world. It lists indicators and variables for each of these basins and, where appropriate, provides links and references to relevant information. It further contains 20 global maps portraying relevant water resources issues.

Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center
The Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center which includes the World Data Center for Atmospheric Trace Gases, is the primary global-change data and information analysis center of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).

SEDAC Environmental Sustainability Indicators
Provides access to data from a wide range of environmental sustainability indicator efforts, as well as citations and information related to those efforts.

Archival & Special Collections at Bates

Dorothy Freeman Collection
A part of Bates Special Collections, the Dorothy Freeman Collection contains several series of material related to the biologist, conservationist, and writer Rachel Carson. Included are two series of correspondence: Dorothy Freeman's Letters to Rachel Carson (1954-1964) and Rachel Carson's Letters to Dorothy Freeman (1952-1964).

Walter A. Lawrance papers, 1938-1983, n.d.
The collection contains material related to Walter A. Lawrance's work as a consultant (1943-1946) and as Rivermaster (1947-1978) of the Androscoggin. Lawrance, a professor of Chemistry at Bates College, had the legal authority to control the amount of pollution discharged into the river by the three major paper mills located along it. Included are his annual studies of the river's odor and other qualities, as well as research projects aimed at limiting waste in paper production and removing pollution from the river.
