Adding
a Slide Show to a generic page is an easy way to graphically
enhance your page without having to make a long table of
images and captions. All images must be prepared before importing
to CMS: save files as jpg's; the preferred size: width=500
pixels, height=331 pixels for horizontal images, reversed
for vertical ones (thumbnails: width=156, height=103). See
OCMR's webguide
instructions for adding a watermark. Each image needs to
be imported to CMS (File, Upload) with a unique name. It
is important
to note the file name, height and width of each image for
completing the show.
Make
a new generic page and enter your content, set navigation,
etc. This will be the top parent page that displays
the slide show thumbnail in the body copy supplement
area.
Change
the layout from genericPage.xsl to slideshow-launch.xsl
by clicking on the ... following the
layout box.

Under
Tools, select Add special,
Element, type in Slideshow
(the colon is filled in for you later), For Type:choose
Component. This field will then
appear at the top of the page.

|
|
Create another
page, a child of your main page, with the pagetype Slideshow-Page
(slideshow.xsl)
This page includes the headline, thumbnail image that
starts the show (type in the filename exactly), and
organizes the image components.
This page
is dragged into the Slideshow component added to
the
parent page after all the images have been
dragged into
it.

|
 |
| Each
image that has been imported needs to be an
Image component,
children of the slideshow page, created in the
step
above.
Type in the
exact filename, height and width pixel
dimensions, and
any descriptions (a short sentence) that will
appear
next to the image.
Be sure to save each image component.
Each image component can then be dragged into
the Slideshow-Page
in the order in which you wish them to appear as
the
viewer clicks "next".
To add Image slots to the Slideshow-Page:-
Under
Tools Add special
Element,
- Type in Image
File
- Pulldown to select Component
- Click ok
The new ones appear at the top of the page, and need to be reordered to be
sure the order of the images are as desired:
- Under Tools, Order elements
- Click to select the 1st added Image File component and click the Move down
button until it is at the end of the Image component list

Be
sure to:
- Preview your slideshow, from the slideshow-launch page
- Save and check-in each page and component
- Mark for publish all pieces of the slide show. This
can most easily be accomplished by right clicking
on the slideshow-launch page (the top parent page)
and choose mark for publish - page and children.
