Windows XP Security Issue:

When XP Professional© and XP Home© are installed on your computer, there is a security flaw that may enable the spreading of viruses from any computer once your computer has been connected to any network. The Bates Network is a possible medium.

The following is set as a recommended default setting:

There is a folder on the computer called "Shared Folder". It does not require a password thus allowing anyone to browse and write to its contents and the threat of viruses to increase. To disable this flaw you should turn off the permissions to the following folder.

Go to My Computer (Desktop or Start menu)

Double click on Local Disk (C:) drive

Double click Documents and Settings > All Users

Right click Shared Documents

Select Properties

Click the Sharing tab

Click the Do not share this folder radio button

Click OK
