Windows XP Security Issue:
When XP Professional© and XP Home© are installed
on your computer, there is a security flaw that may enable
the spreading of viruses from any computer once your computer
has been connected to any network. The Bates Network is a
possible medium.
The following is set as a recommended default setting:
There is a folder on the computer called "Shared
Folder". It does not require a password
thus allowing anyone to browse and write to its contents
and the threat of viruses to increase. To disable
this flaw you should turn off the permissions to the
following folder.
Go
to My Computer (Desktop or
Start menu)
Double
click on Local Disk (C:) drive
Double
click Documents and Settings > All Users
Right
click Shared Documents
Select Properties
Click
the Sharing tab
Click
the Do not share this folder radio button
Click OK
