Minimum System Requirements

Bates College supports both Macintosh and Windows operating systems for use on campus. There are minimum operating system requirements which are necessary to insure that your computer can be networked and is compatible with other systems on campus. These requirements change every year in June, so if you are thinking of buying a new computer, or bringing a computer to campus please refer to ILS: Hardware: Minimum Requirements for details.

Lab Software

If Bates faculty or their students require software not listed or need access in other locations (such as classroom podiums or department labs), please contact Ron Fazio in Classroom Technology and Event Support at x6424 to discuss options.

The complexity of the campus lab software suite and the desirability for a stable computing enviroment requires that we test new applications thoroughly. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that a last-minute request can be fulfilled. We encourage you to plan ahead at least one full semester.

 

Supported Software
Review the Supported Software Statement, or contact Help Desk Services for a list of software that it can support effectively. Some software that is used here at Bates may not be fully supported by ILS, but may be supported by specialists or faculty members.
