ILS staff members dispose of computers, AV equipment and peripherals that are replaced or are no longer in service. Those with some useful life may be donated to non-profit organizations, provided the organizations are equipped and staffed to support them. Because of data security concerns, computers are made available without a hard drive. Donees will have to install a hard drive, operating system and application software for the computer to be operational.
Equipment that is not suitable for donation is disposed of in a method that complies with Maine and Federal law.
Recipients of donated equipment must agree to comply with all local, state and federal regulations regarding disposal of the equipment at their own expense.
Used computers are not available for sale or donation to employees or students of Bates College.
Any requests for donations of used equipment to non-profit organizations should be addressed to the Manager of Computer Sales and Service at Bates College.
