SOUND EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE FOR CHECKOUT
This document is intended to provide users
with an understanding of what sound equipment is available
for checkout through the Loaner Pool. It provides a list
of the items available, their intended usage and the approximate
repair minimums and replacement costs of each item. As per
the Loaner Pool policy, any damage incurred will be charged
to the individual who has checked the equipment out, NOT
to the individual who caused the damage. This is not intended
to provide instruction for the set-up or the operation of
this equipment. Instructions for this will be provided at
checkout. Note that these items are provided as a package
and cannot be checked out as individual items.

PARTY RIG
This package of equipment is for prerecorded
music either on CD, Tape or MP3/Laptop with a Line-out signal.
Its usage would be for a DJ dance party in a space such
as the Mays Center or Chase Hall Lounge. It is relatively
easy to setup and operate, and all cables necessary are
included, with the exception of the MP3 connection cable.

DJ RIG
This package of equipment is for prerecorded
music on CD and allows for more advanced DJ operations,
including CD scratching. It does have Line-In capabilities
for MP3/Laptop recordings, and a Microphone input. Its usage
is for a DJ dance party in a space such as the Mays Center
or Chase Hall Lounge. It is a relatively easy setup though
much more complex to operate than the PARTY RIG, and includes
looping, sampling and tempo controls. All cables necessary
are included, with the exception of the MP3 connection cable.

LIVE SOUND REINFORCEMENT
BANDS/MULTIPLE INPUT
This package of equipment is for Sound Reinforcement in live
performance situations. It provides bands and performers
with multiple inputs for vocal reinforcement and some instrument
support. It is capable of supporting public address needs
where multiple speakers are present and require separate
microphones, Acoustic oriented bands and performances where
instruments and vocals require reinforcement. It is not
capable of supporting excessive volume for extended periods,
for loud percussion reinforcement such as kick drums or
snare drums, or for reinforcing already amplified instruments,
such as electric guitars. Use of this equipment for
these, or other unintended uses, may cause damage to the
speakers and/or the amplifier. It is relatively easy to
setup, and though it can be run from the stage its most
effective use requires an operator who is not one of the
performers. All cables necessary are included.

SPEAKING/GENERAL USE
This item is used for simple speaking or performing engagements,
or for playing a single CD for background music or in support
of a performance such as a dance. It has a wireless microphone
built in the unit, and comes with an additional wired microphone
that can be used for another vocalist or to mic an acoustic
instrument such as a guitar. It has a line level input to
support any preamped electric instrument, such as a keyboard,
and a built-in CD player as well. Though capable of filling
a medium sized space effectively, it is not capable of supporting
excessive volume for extended periods, for loud percussion
reinforcement such as kick drums or snare drums, or for
reinforcing already amplified instruments, such as electric
guitars. Use of this equipment for these, or other unintended
uses, may cause damage to the speakers and/or the amplifier.
