WHICH ANTI-VIRUS PROGRAM:
SOPHOS OR COMMAND

The following instructions will provide you with the steps on how to determine which anti-virus program is installed on your computer. Bates College currently maintains two anti-virus programs for the Windows platform: Command Anti-Virus and Sophos Anti-Virus.

 

To determine which anti-virus program is installed on your computer:

XP system tray

Check the Windows System Tray
(bottom right corner of your Desktop, next to the clock/time)

Look for the following icons:
Command C icon C (Yellow)= Command Anti-Virus
Sophos Red Bold icon Lightning Bolt (Red) = Sophos Anti-Virus
 

WINDOWS XP USERS TAKE NOTE:

If you do not see a Red Lightening Bolt, your computer may be set to "Hide inactive icons." To maximize your System Tray view, click the arrow button to the left of the System Tray.

If you don't see either icon in your System Tray, contact Help Desk Services for assistance at (207) 786-8222.
