She is a graduate of the Conservatory of Chinese Music, in Beijing, and has served as the erhu soloist at the National Traditional Orchestra of China. She has also performed in venues including Madison Square Garden and Avery Fisher Hall at the Lincoln Center. |

The Aardvark Jazz Orchestra is a large jazz ensemble that performs compositions by their founder and music director, Mark Harvey, as well as jazz pieces by Duke Ellington, and adaptations of work by other composers, such as Ives and Cage. They have played widely, including performances at the Lake George Jazz Weekend in New York, the Boston Globe Jazz and Blues Festival, and at Princeton University. |

Winner of the 1992 Naumburg International Piano Competition and recipient of an Avery Fisher Career Grant, Awadagin Pratt is a celebrated classical pianist. He has played in many venues, including the Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, and the White House—at the invitation of President and Mrs. Clinton. He has also performed with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Pratt's program will include Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, and Rachmaninov. |

With Andrea Vio and Alberto Battiston on violin,
Luca Morassutti on viola, and Angelo Zanin on cello, the Quartetto
di Venezia has performed throughout the world, including performances for Pope John Paul II and the President of the Italian Republic. They have recorded work by composers such as Beethoven, Respighi, and Saint Saens. Their performance at Bates will feature an all-Italian program, including work by Boccherini and Verdi. |
