Officers of the Representative Assembly

The officers of the RA consist of the Chair, the Secretary, and the Parliamentarian. These officials are elected out of the membership of the RA at the first RA meeting of the year, and they make sure that the RA runs smoothly. Once elected, the officers are no longer considered members of the RA and their old position must be re-elected. The Chair, Secretary and Parliamentarian, along with the President, Vice Presidents, and Treasurer are the officers of the BCSG, and no officer may be hold another position as member or officer of any branch.

All BCSG Officers are required to hold 1 office hour each week in the BCSG office, which is Room 208 in Chase Hall, pictured to the right.

The Chair controls the agenda for and moderates each meeting, preventing chaos and disorder from ensuing. The Chair does have the power to call an emergency meeting, should it be necessary. The Chair also has the power to remove members of the RA who shirk their duties.

The Secretary's many duties include publishing the minutes for each meeting, keeping track of meeting attendence and the number of students in each residence and/or off campus, maintaining a roster of Student Government members, maintaining the RA listserv and the Archives, and similar functions. The Secretary is also chair of the Publicity Committee.

Makes sure that meetings and the government as a whole proceede according to the Constitution, Bylaws, and Robert's Rules of Order, among other things. The Parliamentarian is also chair of the Elections and Judiciary Committee.
