Peaks Island photographer, Arthur Fink, has a passion for dance. For the last four summers he has spent several weeks photographing dancers at the Festival. These stunning and provocative images capture the dancers at work -- warming up, taking class and rehearsing. Included are images of the acclaimed artists-in-residence.

Moving in the Moment

One of the Festival’s most popular annual events -- this evening of improvisational dance and music features contact improvisers, Nancy Stark Smith and Chris Aiken, and over twenty members of the Festival’s community of artists. A window onto the spontaneous choreography and playful creativity inherent in improvisation, this promises to be a highly entertaining evening of spontaneous performance the whole family can enjoy.

Young Choreographers/New Works
Saturday, August 8
Schaeffer Theatre, 1-5 p.m.

An informal showcase of over 20 new dances created by students and international artists during the Festival. Designed to include critical feedback from faculty members, the afternoon promises to be informative for both the audience and the performers. Audience members are welcome to come and go throughout the afternoon.
