Some Suggestions Which May Reduce the Risk of Being Raped
- Pay attention to your feelings. If at any time you feel uneasy or
uncomfortable, try to get out of the situation. If you feel that you are in
trouble, try to get help by alerting others.
- Pay attention to the way you are being treated. Does your partner listen
to and respect your ideas or feelings? Does he/she want to make all the
decisions? If your partner does not listen to what you want, chances are
that he/she may not respect your sexual limits.
- Communicate your limits as clearly as possible. If you start to feel
uncomfortable, tell your partner. Be direct‹do not worry about being polite.
- Be aware that alcohol and other drug use correlates highly with the
incidence of date rape. Use of alcohol or other drugs may impair your ability
to make sound decisions or to respond effectively in an uncomfortable situation.
