Statistics in the crime categories below represent criminal activity officially reported to Bates College Security and Campus Safety as defined by the National Incident-Based Reporting System Edition of the Uniform Crime Reporting Program, and as required under the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended by the Student Right-to-Know and CAMPUS SECURITY ACT (public laws 101-542, 102-26, 102-325, and 103-208). amended 1992 and 1998, renamed the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Statistics Act."

Burglary

10-05-05 - A resident of Parker Hall reported that $200.00 in cash was taken from her room.


Thefts

09-27-05 - A student reported that her front license plate was stolen from her vehicle while it was parked on College Street.

09-27-05 - A golf cart was reported stolen from the rear of Pettengill Hall. The golf cart was being rented by Dinning Services.

10-02-05 - An employee of Papa John's reported that he had two pizzas, along with the delivery bag stolen from him in front of Wentworth Adams Hall.

10-03-05 - A student reported that her wallet and its contents were stolen from the area of the ATM in Chase Hall. The Lewiston Police were advised of the incident.

10-06-05 - A student reported that his backpack and its contents were stolen from the Boat House in Greene.

10-08-05 - A student reported that her cell phone was stolen while she was inside Rand Hall.


Bicycle Theft

10-04-05 - A student reported that her Trek Sport mountain bike was stolen from the Chase Hall bike rack. The bike is valued at $200.00.


Criminal Trespass

09-25-05 - A security alert was posted in reference to the arrest of Robert Lombardi for criminal trespass. For more information please refer to Security and Campus Safety's web page.


Liquor Laws Violations

10-01-05 - Lewiston Police notified Security and Campus Safety that three students in front of 245 College Street were summonsed for possession of alcohol.

09-25-05 - A vehicle being driven by a student was stopped by the Lewiston Police Department in the Pit Parking Lot. It was determined that the student was intoxicated and was referred to the Dean of Students.

10-01-05 - A resident of Rand Hall was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of the State Liquor Laws. The incident took place on the front porch of Wilson House.

10-01-05 - Two students of Rand Hall were referred to the Dean of Students for violation of the State Liquor Laws.


Narcotics Laws Violation

10-08-05 - A resident of Village Two were referred to the Dean of Students Office for violation of the State Narcotics Laws.


Security Information

10-10-05 - An off-campus resident reported being assaulted by another student at his apartment.


Criminal Mischief

09-26-05 - A chemical fire extinguisher in the basement of Milliken House was discharged. The cost to recharge the extinguisher is $118.73.

09-26-05 - A water fire extinguisher located on the first floor of Smith Hall North was discharged. The cost to recharge the extinguisher is $118.73.

10-02-05 - An individual damaged five light fixtures inside Village Two. The cost of the damage is unknown at this time.
