Crime Statistics

Statistics in the crime categories below represent criminal activity officially reported to Bates College Security and Campus Safety as defined by the National Incident-Based Reporting System Edition of the Uniform Crime Reporting Program, and as required under the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended by the Student Right-to-Know and CAMPUS SECURITY ACT (public laws 101-542, 102-26, 102-325, and 103-208). amended 1992 and 1998, renamed the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Statistics Act."

The following statistics reflect criminal activity that was reported between September 11, 2005 and September 24, 2005.

Thefts

09-12-05 - A resident of Wentworth Adams Hall reported that the derailler was stolen from her mountain bike. The bike was locked to the bike rack in front of Wentworth Adams Hall.

09-15-05 - A Sony LCD projector was reported stolen from an office located in Pettengill Hall. The projector is valued at $2000.00.

09-22-05 - A resident of Moulton House reported that her rear tire and rim was stolen from her mountain bike. The bike was secured to the bike rack in front of Merrill Gym.


Criminal Trespass

09-11-05 - Security & Campus Safety along with Lewiston Police Department issued a criminal trespass warning to a female. Officers observed her trying to gain entry into Small House and acting in a suspicous manner.

09-20-05 - A resident of Poland, Maine was issued a criminal trespass warning by Security & Campus Safety and the Lewiston Police Department due to his behavior on campus. The individual was later observed on campus and was arrested by the Lewiston Police Department.


Liquor Laws Violations

09-16-05 - Three students were referred to the Dean of Students for violation of the State Liquor Laws. The incident took place in front of Wentworth Adams Hall.

09-16-05 - A student was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of the State Liquor Laws. The incident took place inside Milliken House.

09-17-05 - A resident of Wilson House was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of the State Liquor Laws. The incident took place on the front porch of Wilson House.

09-21-05 - A resident of Wilson House was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of the State Liquor Laws.

09-23-05 - Three students were referred to the Dean of Students for violation of the State Liquor Laws. The incident took place outside of Wentworth Adams Hall.

09-23-05 - During separate incidents, four students were summonsed by the Lewiston Police Department for violation of State Liquor Laws on College Street.

09-24-05 - Lewiston Police arrested two students for violation of State Liquor Laws and disorderly conduct. The incident took place on College Street.


Narcotics Laws Violation

09-17-05 - A resident of Rand Hall were referred to the Dean of Students Office for violation of the State Narcotics Laws.

09-24-05 - Three students were referred to the Dean of Students for violation of State Narcotics Laws. The incident took place inside Rand Hall.


Criminal Mischief

09-17-05 - The card reader at the handicapped entrance to Rand Hall was damaged. The replacement cost is $444.00.

09-17-05 - Two bulletin boards on the first floor of Wentworth Adams Hall were damaged. The replacement cost is $98.88 for each board.

09-21-05 - A second floor screen in Wilson House was damaged. The replacement cost is $72.02.
