Statistics in the crime categories below represent criminal activity officially reported to Bates College Security and Campus Safety as defined by the National Incident-Based Reporting System Edition of the Uniform Crime Reporting Program, and as required under the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended by the Student Right-to-Know and CAMPUS SECURITY ACT (public laws 101-542, 102-26, 102-325, and 103-208). amended 1992 and 1998, renamed the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Statistics Act."

Thefts

08-31-05 - A student reported that her backpack and its contents were stolen from the coat room located in Chase Hall. The total value of the items stolen was $490.00. The Lewiston Police Department was advised of the incident.


Bike Thefts

08-28-05 - A student reported that his Rolly M40 bicycle was stolen from the front of Smith Hall. The bicycle is valued at $800.00.

08-31-05 - A resident of Smith Hall reported that her Trek 6700 mountain bike was stolen from the bike rack in front of Smith Hall. The bike is valued at $1000.00. The Lewiston Police Department was advised of the incident.


Criminal Trespass

09-01-05 - A resident of Lewiston was issued a Criminal Trespass Warning by Security and Campus Safety after his unleashed dog attacked another dog. The incident took place at Lake Andrews.


Liquor Laws Violations

09-03-05 - The Lewiston Police reported that sixteen individuals were issued summons for violation of the State Liquor Laws on the Bates College campus during the weekend of September 2nd and 3rd.

09-10-05 - A resident of Smith Hall North was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of the State Liquor Laws.


Narcotics Laws Violation

09-06-05 - Two residents of Parker Hall were referred to the Dean of Students Office for violation of the State Narcotics Laws.


Neighborhood Complaints

08-31-05 - Disorderly Conduct Warnings were issued to the residents of 26 White Street after the Lewiston Police Department arrived after receiving a noise complaint. The incident took place at 11:32 p.m.

09-03-05 - The Lewiston Police Department issued Disorderly Conduct Warnings to the tenants of 126 and 128 Wood Street after dispersing a large party. The incident took place at 11:50 p.m.

09-04-05 - The Lewiston Police Department issued Disorderly Conduct Warnings to the tenants of 227 Oak Street and 70 Elm Street after they received complaints about a large disturbance. The incident took place at 11:42 p.m.


Criminal Mischief

09-08-05 - One of the first floor exterior doors was damaged at Parker Hall. The crash bar had to be replaced after it was damaged. The cost of the damage is $835.49.

09-09-05 - It was reported that the front entrance door to John Bertram Hall was damaged. The cost to repair the door was estimated at $401.45.
