Statistics in the crime categories below represent criminal activity officially reported to Bates College Security and Campus Safety as defined by the National Incident-Based Reporting System Edition of the Uniform Crime Reporting Program, and as required under the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended by the Student Right-to-Know and CAMPUS SECURITY ACT (public laws 101-542, 102-26, 102-325, and 103-208). amended 1992 and 1998, renamed the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Statistics Act."

The following statistics reflect criminal activity that was reported between August 24, 2003 and September 6, 2003.

Thefts

08-30-03 - An employee from Underhill reported the theft of a two wheeled dolly that was used for holding a water container. The value of the item is $400.00. The incident was reported to the Lewiston Police Department.

08-31-03 - A student reported having his wallet and personal papers, along with $20.00 in cash stolen from behind the football field bleachers. The value of the wallet is $10.00. The incident was reported to the Lewiston Police Department.

09-03-03 - A student reported a number of personal items were taken from the storage area of Village II that she stored over the past year. The items included a microwave, a 19" RCA television, a television stand and a VCR. The total value of the items is $240.00. The incident was reported to the Lewiston Police Department.


Bike Thefts

08-29-03 - A student reported his 19" Specialized mountain bike stolen from the Smith Hall bike rack. The bike was locked with a cable lock. The bike is valued at $150.00. The incident was reported to the Lewiston Police Department.

09-01-03 - A student reported that his 20" black and gray Trek 500 mountain bike was stolen from the Wentworth Adams bike rack. The bike is valued at $200.00. The incident was reported to the Lewiston Police Department.

09-03-03 - A student reported her green 19" Trek mountain bike was stolen from the front of Wilson House. An Officer on 09-05-03 recovered the bike in front of John Bertram. The value of the bike is $100.00. The incident was reported to the Lewiston Police Department.


Liquor Laws/Policy

08-30-03 - A student from Mitchell House was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Liquor Laws.

09-01-03 - A student was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Liquor Laws on College Street.

09-03-03 - A student was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Liquor Laws on the Library Terrace.

09-04-03 - Five students from Herrick House were referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Liquor Laws. One student was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of the Hard Liquor Policy.

09-05-03 - A student from Chase House was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of The Hard Liquor Policy.

09-06-03 - Two students from John Bertram Hall were referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Liquor Laws.

09-06-03 - Four students were referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Liquor Laws in front of Smith Hall.

09-06-03 - A student was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Liquor Laws while on Frye Street.

09-06-03 - A student from Hayes House was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Liquor Laws.


Drug Related Violations

09-04-03 - Two Students from Herrick House were charged by the Lewiston Police Department for possession of marijuana.

09-05-03 - A student from Chase House was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Narcotics Laws.
