Statistics in the crime categories below represent criminal activity officially reported to Bates College Security and Campus Safety as defined by the National Incident-Based Reporting System Edition of the Uniform Crime Reporting Program, and as required under the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended by the Student Right-to-Know and CAMPUS SECURITY ACT (public laws 101-542, 102-26, 102-325, and 103-208). The following statistics reflect criminal activity that was reported between July 1, and July 14, 2001.

Burglary

7-09-01 - A wallet was taken from an unlocked room at Pettengill Hall. The wallet was found in the first floor hallway. The only thing that appeared to be missing was a small amount of change.


Theft

7-02-01 - A tire from a mountain bike was stolen while the bike was locked to the bike rack at Pettengill Hall. The rim and tire were valued at $60.00. The Lewiston Police Department was notified.

UPDATE: A wallet stolen from Lane Hall on 6-18-01 was found in the bushes at Schaeffer Theater. The only thing missing was $40.00 in cash. The Lewiston Police Department was notified of the recovery.


Criminal Mischief

7-08-01 - A screen on the window to Coram Library Room 6 was pushed in and torn. The total damage was estimated at $50.00. The Lewiston Police Department was notified.
