Statistics in the crime categories below represent criminal activity officially reported to Bates College Security and Campus Safety as defined by the National Incident-Based Reporting System Edition of the Uniform Crime Reporting Program, and as required under the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended by the Student Right-to-Know and CAMPUS SECURITY ACT (public laws 101-542, 102-26, 102-325, and 103-208). amended 1992 and 1998, renamed the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Statistics Act."

Burglary

6-05-03 - An alumnus reported that a small carrying bag containing jewelry was taken from her room in Parker Hall. The jewelry consisted of earrings, a wristwatch with a gold chain, a white gold ring, a bracelet and a silver chain necklace. The property is valued at $590.00. The Lewiston Police Department was notified.

6-07-03 - An alumnus reported that a number od items were taken from their room in Village 3, where they were staying for the weekend. The items included a Minolta 35 mm camera, a blue jewelry purse containing an engagement ring and wedding band and a pearl ring with diamonds. The property was valued at $750.00. The Lewiston Police Department was notified.

6-07-03 - An alumnus reported that $500.00 in cash was taken from her purse while it was inside her room at Parker Hall. The Lewiston Police Department was notified.


Criminal Mischief

6-05-03 - The Custodian Supervisor reported the toilet in the second floor bathroom at the Olin Arts Center had been damaged. It appears that a firecracker was used to cause the damage. The value of the damage is $363.82..


Criminal Mischief of Motor Vehicle

6-07-03 - A saff member from Information Services reported damage to their golf cart. The ignition was discovered to be pulled from the dashboard. The value of the damage is unknown at this time.
