Statistics in the crime categories below represent criminal activity officially reported to Bates College Security and Campus Safety as defined by the National Incident-Based Reporting System Edition of the Uniform Crime Reporting Program, and as required under the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended by the Student Right-to-Know and CAMPUS SECURITY ACT (public laws 101-542, 102-26, 102-325, and 103-208). amended 1992 and 1998, renamed the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Statistics Act."

Liquor Violations

5-21-03 - A student from Chase House was referred to the Dean of Students Office for violating the hard alcohol policy. Six students were referred to the Dean of Students Office for Liquor Law Violations. Three bottles of hard alcohol were confiscated.


Drug Related Violations

5-21-03 - A student from Hacker House was summons by the Lewiston Police Department for possession of marijuana. The marijuana was confiscated.


Theft

5-26-03 - A staff member from Chase Hall reported her red backpack was taken from concierge. The backpack is valued at $25.00. The Lewiston Police Department was notified.

5-27-03 - A student reported that the items that she placed on the sidewalk while she was in the process of loading her vehicle while she was moving from her residence hall was taken by a female riding in a vehicle. The property was valued at $100.00. The Lewiston Police Department was notified.


Burglary from Motor Vehicle

5-26-03 - A visitor of the college reported that her purse was taken from underneath the passenger side seat of her motor vehicle. The purse is value at $35.00. The Lewiston Police Department was notified.


Bicycle Theft

5-21-03 - A student reported that his bicycle was taken from the front of Roger Williams Hall. The 1970'sh Gitane bicycle is valued at $100.00. The Lewiston Police Department was notified.
