Statistics in the crime categories below represent criminal activity officially reported to Bates College Security and Campus Safety as defined by the National Incident-Based Reporting System Edition of the Uniform Crime Reporting Program, and as required under the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended by the Student Right-to-Know and CAMPUS SECURITY ACT (public laws 101-542, 102-26, 102-325, and 103-208). amended 1992 and 1998, renamed the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Statistics Act."

Thefts

4-11-06 - A student reported that his wallet was taken from a locker room located in the Merrill Gymnasium.


Bicycle Theft

4-14-06 - A student reported that his bicycle had just been stolen from the front of Pettengill Hall by two individuals. Officers from Security & Campus Safety located the two individuals with the bicycle on Franklin Street. The two individuals were stopped and held until officers from the Lewiston Police Department arrived. One of the individuals was summons while the second one was arrested for the theft of the bicycle.


Criminal Mischief/Dorm Damage

4-09-06 - A resident of Hedge Hall reported that the widow to her room had been broken.

4-10-06 - A damaged screen in Page Hall was reported to Security and Campus Safety.

4-11-06 - Officers observed two students breaking an end table which was removed from a residence hall. The students were charged with the cost of the end table. The incident took place on College Street.


Criminal Mischief to M/V

4-09-06 - A student reported that her front license plate was removed from her vehicle. The student's vehicle was parked in the Wood Street parking lot.
