Statistics in the crime categories below represent criminal activity officially reported to Bates College Security and Campus Safety as defined by the National Incident-Based Reporting System Edition of the Uniform Crime Reporting Program, and as required under the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended by the Student Right-to-Know and CAMPUS SECURITY ACT (public laws 101-542, 102-26, 102-325, and 103-208). amended 1992 and 1998, renamed the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Statistics Act."

Bicycle Theft

04-15-04 - A student reported that her mountain bike was stolen from the front of Chase Hall while the bike was left unlocked. The bike is valued at $300.00.


Criminal Mischief

04-14-04 - An expelled water fire extinguisher was located on the second floor hallway of John Bertram Hall. The cost of the damage is $111.92.

04-17-04 - An expelled water fire extinguisher was found on the third floor hallway of John Bertram Hall. The cost of the damage is $111.92.

04-19-04 - A resident of Mitchell House reported that his door was forced open causing damage to the frame.

04-22-04 - The vending machine located at Parker Hall was reported vandalized.


Criminal Mischief to Motor Vehicles

04-11-04 - The owners of three vehicles reported finding thier passenger side mirrors damaged. The vehicles were parked on Frye Street.

04-12-04 - A student reported that he found his drivers side mirror of his vehicle damaged. The vehicle was parked on Wood Street.

04-17-04 - A student reported that her passenger side mirror of her vehicle was damaged. The vehicle was parked on Frye Street.


Liquor Laws

04-16-04 - A student was referred to the Dean of Students for violations of State Liquor Laws. The incident took place inside The Ronj.

04-22-04 - Seven students were referred to the Dean of Students for violations of State Liquor Laws while on the porch roof of Parker Hall.


Liquor policy

04-16-04 - Three students were referred to the Dean of Students for violation of the College Liquor Policy. The incident took place inside The Ronj.


Criminal Trespass

04-12-04 - Officers observed a van driving around campus in a suspicious manner. The Lewiston Police Department was contacted and stopped the vehicle. The owner was issued a criminal trespass warning.
