Statistics in the crime categories below represent criminal activity officially reported to Bates College Security and Campus Safety as defined by the National Incident-Based Reporting System Edition of the Uniform Crime Reporting Program, and as required under the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended by the Student Right-to-Know and CAMPUS SECURITY ACT (public laws 101-542, 102-26, 102-325, and 103-208). amended 1992 and 1998, renamed the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Statistics Act."

Arson

3-30-06 - A custodial supervisor from Physical Plant reported that some posters and flyers located on the bulletin board in the front entry way of the first floor of Rand Hall had been burned. The incident was reported to the Lewiston Police Department.


Thefts

3-24-06 - A student reported that her purse and its contents were taken from the coat room of Chase Hall. The incident was reported to the Lewiston Police Department.

3-25-06 - A student reported that her Northface fleece jacket was stolen from the coat room of Chase Hall. Also taken was a wallet along with personal items. The theft was reported to the Lewiston Police Department.

3-25-06 - A student reported that her Lacoste waist jacket along with a cell phone was stolen from the coat room of Chase Hall. The incident was reported to the Lewiston Police Department.

4-02-06 - A student reported that his backpack was stolen from the Mays Center. The incident was reported to the Lewiston Police Department.


Narcotics Laws Violations

3-28-06 - Two residents of Parker Hall were referred to the Dean of Students for violation of State Narcotics Laws.

4-08-06 - A student was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of State Narcotics Laws. The incident took place in Hacker House


Liquor Laws Violations

4-01-06 - Two residents of Smith Hall South were referred to the Dean of Students for violation of the State Liquor Laws.


Criminal Mischief/Dorm Damage

3-26-06 - Officers reported finding a number of broken lights in the rear stairwell of Smith Hall North.

3-26-06 - An Officer reported finding a number of broken lights in the west stairwell of John Bertram Hall.

4-04-06 - Physicle Plant reported that the vending machine located in the basement of Smith Hall was damaged.

4-08-06 - Officers reported finding the Admissions Parking sign had been damaged.
