Crime Statistics

Statistics in the crime categories below represent criminal activity officially reported to Bates College Security and Campus Safety as defined by the National Incident-Based Reporting System Edition of the Uniform Crime Reporting Program, and as required under the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended by the Student Right-to-Know and CAMPUS SECURITY ACT (public laws 101-542, 102-26, 102-325, and 103-208). amended 1992 and 1998, renamed the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Statistics Act."

The following statistics reflect criminal activity that was reported between March 13, 2005 and March 26, 2005.

03-23-05 - A student reported having $150.00 stolen from her purse while it was left inside a student's room on the third floor of Page Hall.


Narcotics Laws

03-19-05 - A resident of Smith Hall was summons by the Lewiston Police Department for Possession of Narcotics.

03-19-05 - A resident of Wilson House was summons by the Lewiston Police Department for Possession of Narcotics.

03-19-05 - A resident of Village Three was referred to the Dean of Students for Possession of Narcotics.

03-23-05 - A resident of Page Hall was referred to the Dean of Students for Possession of Narcotics.


Liquor Laws

03-23-05 - A resident of Page Hall was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of State Liquor Laws.

03-25-05 - A student was summons by the Lewiston Police Department for Possession of Alcohol by a Minor at the corner of Campus Ave. and Wood Street.

03-26-05 - A bottle of hard alcohol was confiscated from a room in Hayes House.

03-26-05 - A student was summons by the Lewiston Police Department for Possession of Alcohol by a Minor on Frye Street.

03-26-05 - A student was summons by the Lewiston Police Department for Possession of Alcohol by a Minor on the corner of Central Ave. and Campus Ave.

03-26-05 - A student was arrested on the Quad by the Lewiston Police Department for Possession of Alcohol by a Minor.

03-26-05 - A student was arrested on the Quad by the Lewiston Police Department for Possession of Alcohol by a Minor and Possession of Narcotics.


Neighborhood Complaint

03-20-05 - Security and Campus Safety went to 70 Elm Street at the request of the Lewiston Police Department. The Lewiston Police Department dispersed a large crowd that was attending a party after they received numerous complaints about the noise. A student and a visitor were arrested for Disorderly Conduct. The incident took place at 1:38 a.m.


Criminal Trespass

03-20-05 - A female resident of Auburn was issued a Criminal Trespass Warning after she became uncooperative with Security and insulting to passing students. The incident took place outside of Small House.

03-24-05 - Three juveniles from Lewiston were issued Criminal Trespass Warnings after they were making inappropriate comments to a staff member and two students.

03-26-05 - A student from Regis College was issued a Criminal Trespass Warning after he was found in the woman's bathroom in Chase Hall during the "Lick It Party".


Suspicious Vehicle

03-16-05 - A student reported that while she was walking on Frye Street a vehicle stopped beside her and the driver asked the student if she wanted a ride. The student continued to walk down the street, and the vehicle drove off when two other students were seen walking towards the vehicle.


Criminal Mischief

03-26-05 - Residents of Hayes House reported damage to the second floor hallway. After speaking with a student, the student admitted to some of the damage that took place in the building.
