Statistics in the crime categories below represent criminal activity officially reported to Bates College Security and Campus Safety as defined by the National Incident-Based Reporting System Edition of the Uniform Crime Reporting Program, and as required under the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended by the Student Right-to-Know and CAMPUS SECURITY ACT (public laws 101-542, 102-26, 102-325, and 103-208). amended 1992 and 1998, renamed the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Statistics Act."

Narcotics Laws

02-17-05 - A resident of Page Hall was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Narcotics Laws.

02-18-05 - Two students were referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Narcotics Laws. The incident took place inside Rand Hall.


Neighborhood Complaint

02-15-05 - At 2:39 a.m., Lewiston Police received a complaint from a Lewiston resident about a group of students having a snowball fight at the corner of Nichols and Holland Streets. Officers from Security and Campus Safety spoke to the students and they returned home for the night.


Stolen Property Recovered

02-23-05 - Detectives from the Lewiston Police contacted Security and Campus Safety and advised that they recovered a bicycle that was stolen from the campus on 11-27-04. The Lewiston Police arrested the individual.
