Statistics in the crime categories below represent criminal activity officially reported to Bates College Security and Campus Safety as defined by the National Incident-Based Reporting System Edition of the Uniform Crime Reporting Program, and as required under the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended by the Student Right-to-Know and CAMPUS SECURITY ACT (public laws 101-542, 102-26, 102-325, and 103-208). amended 1992 and 1998, renamed the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Statistics Act."

Bicycle Theft

12-16-05 - A student reported that his Specialized Rock Hopper mountain bike was taken from the Chase Hall bike rack. The bicycle was later located near Alumni Gym.


Narcotics Laws Violation

12-09-05 - Two students were referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Narcotic Laws. The incident took place inside John Bertram Hall. The incident activated the dorm's fire alarm.

12-10-05 - A resident of Parker Hall was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Narcotic Laws.

12-12-05 - A resident of Parker Hall was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Narcotic Laws.


Criminal Mischief

12-04-05 - A resident of Parsons House reported that he found his door to his room was kicked in.

12-04-05 - An exterior and interior rear window located at the Office of Career Services was broken.

12-12-05 - A resident of Smith South reported that the outside screens of his room were damaged.

12-13-05 - Residents of Smith North reported that the two first floor bulletin boards were torn from the wall, a large hole was noticed in the wall and laundry was thrown all over the laundry room floor.


Neighborhood Complaint

12-11-05 - Officers from the Lewiston Police Department and Security and Campus Sefety responded to 77 Nichols Street for a report of a loud party. The residents were issued a disorderly conduct warning. The incident took place at 12:19 a.m.
