Crime Statistics

Statistics in the crime categories below represent criminal activity officially reported to Bates College Security and Campus Safety as defined by the National Incident-Based Reporting System Edition of the Uniform Crime Reporting Program, and as required under the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended by the Student Right-to-Know and CAMPUS SECURITY ACT (public laws 101-542, 102-26, 102-325, and 103-208). amended 1992 and 1998, renamed the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Statistics Act."

The following statistics reflect criminal activity that was reported between November 6, 2005 and November 19, 2005.

Thefts

11-06-05 - Two visitors reported that their wallets were stolen from the locker room of Underhill Arena. The incident was reported to the Lewiston Police Department.


Assault

11-11-05 - A student reported that she was shot with a pellet gun in the hallway of Parker Hall. The student who fired the pellet gun stated that he hit the student accidentally.


Bicycle Theft

11-07-05 - A student reported that her Giant Boulder mountain bike was taken from the front of Frye House. The bicycle was later recovered behind Rand Hall.

11-07-05 - A student reported that his Gary Fisher Sugar mountain bike was missing from the Wood Street Bike Garage. The bicycle was stored at the location over the summer. The bicycle is valued at $2000.00.

11-17-05 - A resident of Stillman House reported that her Specialized mountain bike was taken from the residence. The bicycle is valued at $200.00.

11-17-05 - A resident of Chase House reported that his Specialized Stumpjumper mountain bike was taken from the front of the resident Hall. The bicycle is valued at $100.00.


Criminal Mischief

11-11-05 - Graffiti was found written on the ground floor wall of Parker Hall.

11-11-05 - The crashbar on the front door of Roger Williams Hall was damaged preventing the door to secure properly. The on call carpenter was called in to repair the damage.

11-13-05 - It was reported that three trees were damaged on the walkway in front of Pettengill Hall. The cost of the damage is unknown.

11-13-05 - A student reported that the window of an interior door of Village III was shattered.

11-15-05 - A resident of Village III reported that the elevator was damaged and was stuck on the fourth floor of the building. The fire alarm was also activated by an individual pulling the pull station.


Narcotics Laws Violation

11-13-05 - Two student were referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Narcotic Laws. The incident took place inside Milliken House.


Liquor Laws Violation

11-11-05 - Two students were referred to the Dean of Students for violation of State Liquor Laws. The incident took place inside Parker Hall.

11-12-05 - Two students were referred to the Dean of Students for violation of State Liquor Laws. The incident took place on the third floor of Hacker House.
