Crime Statistics

Statistics in the crime categories below represent criminal activity officially reported to Bates College Security and Campus Safety as defined by the National Incident-Based Reporting System Edition of the Uniform Crime Reporting Program, and as required under the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended by the Student Right-to-Know and CAMPUS SECURITY ACT (public laws 101-542, 102-26, 102-325, and 103-208). amended 1992 and 1998, renamed the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Statistics Act."

Thefts

12-06-03 - A resident of Holmes House reported that her perscription medication was taken from her room. The cost to replace the medication is $86.00. The Lewiston Police were notified of the incident.


Bicycle Theft

11-30-03 - A resident of Lewiston reported that his Giant BMX bike was stolen in the area of Hathorn Hall. The bicycle is valued at $220.00. The Lewiston Police Department were notified of the incident.


Liquor Laws/Policy

12-06-03 - A resident of Wentworth Adams was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of State Liquor Laws.

12-12-03 - A resident of Cheney House was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of State Liquor Laws.

12-13-03 - A student was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of State Liquor Laws. The incident took place in John Bertram Hall.


Narcotics Laws

12-05-03 - A student was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Narcotics Laws. The incident took place in Smith Hall North.

12-09-03 - A resident of Page Hall was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Narcotics Laws.

12-10-03 - A resident of Rand Hall was referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Narcotics Laws. The Lewiston Police responded and gave the resident a warning for the violation.

12-12-04 - Two residents of Hayes House were referred to the Dean of Students for violation of Narcotics Laws.


Criminal Mischief

12-02-03 - A chemical fire extinguisher was expelled in the basement lounge of Page Hall. The cost of the damage is $111.92.

12-06-03 - Two windows in the basement of Parker Hall were found broken. The replacement cost for the windows is $398.20.

12-08-03 - A window on the second floor of John Bertram Hall was broken by a resident of John Bertram. The cost to replace the window is $199.10.

12-12-03 - A chemical fire extinguisher was expelled in a resident's room in Hacker House, which activated the fire alarm. The total cost of the damage has not been determined.

12-12-03 - A rock was thrown through a third floor window of Wilson House. The replacement cost of the window is $370.31.

12-13-03 - A number of light fixtures were broken inside the ground floor lounge of John Bertram Hall. The damage is estimated at $88.24.


Neighborhood Complaints

12-06-03 - Disorderly conduct warnings were issued to the residents of 53 Wood Street due to excessive noise. The incident took place at 12:54 a.m.
